Village tour at Kumbalangi with Christone Holidays
In the quaint village of Kumbalangi, nestled along the serene backwaters of Kochi, life moved at a tranquil pace. The village was a picturesque tableau of lush paddy fields, swaying coconut palms, and traditional Chinese fishing nets silhouetted against the golden hues of the setting sun. Amidst this idyllic setting, Christone Holidays, was making a big impact. Run by the passionate and enthusiastic Anjali and her husband Rajesh, Christone Holidays specialized in providing authentic local experiences to tourists. Their mission was simple: to let visitors immerse themselves in the soul of Kumbalangi, far from the typical tourist trails. One bright morning, as the village awoke to the melody of chirping birds and the gentle lapping of water against the banks, Christone Holidays welcomed a group of travelers. Among them was a family from Mumbai—Naina, her husband Arjun, and their curious seven-year-old son, Aarav. Anjali greeted them with a warm smile. "Welcome to Kumbalangi," she said, handing each of them a fresh coconut to sip from. "Today, you'll experience the true essence of our village." Their first stop was a traditional Keralan homestead. As they entered, the earthy aroma of spices wafted through the air. Naina was delighted to see an elderly woman, Amma, demonstrating how to grind spices using a stone mill. Aarav, his eyes wide with curiosity, eagerly joined in. Later, Rajesh took them on a canoe ride through the narrow canals. The water was crystal clear, reflecting the vibrant green of the mangroves. "Look, Mama, a kingfisher!" Aarav exclaimed, pointing excitedly. Rajesh smiled, sharing stories of the local wildlife and the importance of preserving this fragile ecosystem. As the sun dipped lower in the sky, casting a warm glow over the village, the group arrived at a small island where a sumptuous feast awaited them. Traditional dishes like appam, fish curry, and payasam were served on banana leaves. The flavors were rich and varied, each bite telling a story of the region's rich culinary heritage. The evening concluded with a mesmerizing performance of Kathakali, the classical dance-drama of Kerala. Aarav was especially fascinated by the vibrant costumes and dramatic expressions of the performers. Anjali explained the tales being depicted, enriching the experience for everyone. As they bid farewell to Kumbalangi, Naina felt a deep sense of gratitude. "This has been more than just a holiday," she said to Anjali and Rajesh. "It feels like we've been welcomed into your home and your hearts." Anjali smiled, her eyes reflecting the warmth of the village. "That is the spirit of Kumbalangi," she said. "And it is our joy to share it with the world." With hearts full and memories etched in their minds, the family returned to Mumbai, carrying a piece of Kumbalangi with them—a piece of tranquility, beauty, and the simple joy of living in harmony with nature. And back in the village, Anjali and Rajesh prepared to welcome their next guests, ready to share the magic of Christone Holidays once more.

Mannarasala Sree Nagaraja Temple
Mannarasala Sree Nagaraja Kshetram is an ancient pilgrimage centre situated in south-west Kerala. Of all the places of serpent worship in the world. there is none that is more benign, awe-inspiring and legendary than Mannarasala, as blessed and envisaged by Lord Parasurama, the creator of Kerala. The evolution of Mannarasala as the supreme place of worship of the serpent Gods is associated with Parasurama, the son of Jamadagini and a descendant of Bhrigu. When Parasurama decided to seek atonement from the sin of killing the Kshatriyas, he approached the holy Rishis. They suggested that he should make a gift of a land of his own to the Brahmins. Parasurama propitiated Varuna Deva (the Lord of the Seas) to get some land for himself. Varuna appeared before and advised him to throw his parasu, the axe which Lord Siva had given him, into the sea to reclaim land. He throws it and raises a piece of land from the sea and gives it as a gift to the Brahmins. This land is believed to be the present-day Kerala.

Ananthapuram Palace
The 18th-century palace with four courtyards (‘pathinaru kettu’) and conforming to the vasthu architecture of Travancore is bearing a rich legacy in the evolution of Malayalam literature. Anandhapuram palace had witnessed the birth of many Malayalam and Sanskrit works of Valiya Koyithampuran. Fifth generation descendants of the Thampuran are now living in the palace. The structure is constructed in ‘surki,’ a mixture of lime and clay, and the roof in wood. Now, the roofing structure is facing termite attacks. Valiya Koyithampuran had stayed in the palace for more than five years after being placed under house arrest from 1875 to 1880 by Travancore king Ayilyam Thirunal. Among the noted works he created during the time are ‘Kshamapana Sahasram,’ ‘Yamapranama Sathakam’ and ‘Visakha Vijayam’. The thread of his celebrated poem ‘Mayura Sandesam’ was also derived during his life in the palace.Thampuran had married Rani Lakshmi Bayi of Travancore Palace in 1859 and later came to stay there. As he had no children, the building was handed over to his sisters. Their ancestors have been living there since. The library and books in various languages used by Thampuran are preserved here.
Krishnapuram Palace
The Krishnapuram Palace is a rare specimen of the Kerala style of architecture, complete with gabled roofs, narrow corridors and dormer windows. Residence of the rulers of Kayamkulam Kingdom, the age of the palace is unknown. Renovated in the 18th century, the palace is today a protected monument under the Archaeology Department. Recently it was again renovated according to the scientific techniques prescribed for the protection of heritage buildings. One can come across many rare antiques and paintings when exploring this beautiful palace.
